New Street Gateway
The £600 million New Street Gateway project will see Birmingham’s ageing 1960s-built rail terminus undergo a dramatic redevelopment, transforming the dark, overcrowded underground station into the bright and modern 21st Century transport hub, which an international city of Birmingham’s status deserves.

As well as doubling passenger and train handling capacity, relieving congestion and creating more than 5,000 jobs, the project will also see the redevelopment of the surrounding city centre area.
Funded thanks to more than £350 million in Government grants, the project will also see private sector partners investing more than £200 million.
